Freya Lillie is a fairly new brand that came bursting onto the scene with their luxurious range of sustainable baby and children’s wear, in particular linen rompers. We are privileged to stock the brand at Rosie and Lula and the pieces really are of the highest quality, and better still made right here in the UK!
We had a chat with Michelle the founder of Freya Lillie. Michelle is an ultra stylish Mummy with a keen eye for fashion and laid back style. We hope you love this interview as much as we do!
How did Freya Lillie first come about?
Freya Lillie first came about when pregnant with my daughter, which answers your next question as her name is Freya Lillie. I’m not one for fluffy bunny motifs or the latest trends and wanted to find products that you couldn’t find on the high street.
So i started by sourcing brands from across the globe but found I was still missing something, so that’s when i decided to design and create my own clothing.
Describe the brand in three words.
The brand in 3 words would probably be Sustainable Luxurious Timeless
Where does the inspiration for your collection come from?
Inspiration comes from many places, i’m always looking as i absolutely love fashion, but mainly those laid back sunny places we all visit, where everyone is just so effortlessly cool and stylish. From Denmark to the Mediteranean, they keep it simple with no fuss.
What would you say is your signature piece?
Our signature piece is our frilled romper, with the button back romper close behind.
What is the design process for your pieces and how are they made?
The design process develops over the year, reading different magazines and seeing different images on social media. I may then get an idea in my head which i sketch out and then when the time comes to put the collection together i will reevaluate the
pieces taking into consideration the colour scheme too. I then speak to my wonderful team of seamstresses and we start creating samples. Everything is created here in the UK on a made to order basis, that way we create no waste!
Tell us about the new AW18 collection, what can we expect?
The new Autumn/Winter collection is made up of those colours that just make you feel warm and cosy and all Autumnal. Weirdly all the colour names are made up from foods, maybe i was hungry that day? There’s caramel, fig, chocolate and mustard.
I can’t choose a favourite yet as i really love them all, but mustard may just top the rest. We have also introduced a couple of styles that are very gender neutral with the collarless shirt and linen lounge pants which i might also add are available in women’s sizes too. Ladies if you love a relaxed shirt or linen pants that you’ll wear every week of the year, you’ll love these.
Don’t worry we will be keeping our current favourite colours and styles too.
What are your plans for the future of Freya Lillie?
The future of Freya Lillie will stay with women and children’s clothing but may venture into homeware too, something else i’m a little obsessed with! One thing that will never change is we will always be sustainable, luxurious and ethical producing quality that is made to last.
